Liqhwa (Lee) Ncube
Clinical Research Manager
Liqhwa received her BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. Originally from Zimbabwe, her interest in healthcare was sparked by the inadequate healthcare she experienced growing up. Witnessing numerous preventable deaths in her community fueled her passion for improving healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations. Liqhwa has worked at the Elovitz Lab at UPenn and the Women's Biomedical Research Institute at Mount Sinai, where she managed the full project lifecycle for clinical research studies. The studies advanced research in women's health, focusing on areas such as preterm birth, endometriosis, the vaginal microbiome’s role in cervical dysplasia, and immunity in pregnancy. In 2025, Liqhwa joined the Elahi Lab as a project manager for research studies, where she hopes to drive the mission to find solutions for neurodegenerative diseases. Outside of the lab, she enjoys cooking, chasing waterfalls and mountains, watching football (soccer), and occasionally bungee jumping.
